Why is it that things always happen in the middle of the night and wake you from a dead sleep? For example, when the fire alarms need new batteries, the chirping always begins in the middle of the night. So then you lay there for the next few hours listening and waiting for the next chirp. And like clockwork . . . CHIRP! The other night, the phone in our room announced in it's mechanical voice, that we needed to record an outgoing message. Huh?? At 4:09am?? My first thought was that there had been a power outage and the power was just coming back on, but no. The clock next to me wasn't blinking like it had been out. It simply told me the time and seemed to laugh a bit that I needed to open my eyes (thus waking myself fully) to check it. Hmmm . . .
