Shoveling Snow

So here are the guidelines for shoveling snow if you live in an area where it doesn't come down all white and fluffy:

1.  You are required by city ordinance that you need to clear all public walkways before a certain time each day.  We might get it done a little later than it is supposed to be done somedays.  Opps!

2.  Even if there is more in the forecast, you need to shovel each day.  Trust me ... you'll be sorry if you don't and let it really build up.

3.  There should be a rule that I get to finish shoveling the white stuff before it starts coming down again!  :)  Doesn't always happen.

4.  Snow shoveling counts as a workout for the day!

5.  Layers are best.  3 on top keeps me warm!  Earmuffs are also needed.

6.  Stock up on food when the forecast predicts snow.  We live at the bottom of several large hills and getting out of the hood might not be an option.  Saw several neighbors make the attempt.  Not all were successful.

7.  Treat yourself to a nice hot drink when you come back inside!  Yummy!

8.  Snow shoveling is a social event.  You get to see many of your neighbors and chit chat with them as you shovel.  It's kind of a nice way to stay connected.

9.  Help out your neighbors.  Finish your driveway quickly and offer a helping hand!  More neighborhood bonding time and it sure is appreciated (I have been on both ends of this exchange and sure do appreciate when I'm being helped out with my chore).

10.  You'll be a little sore the next day (thus rule number 4).  Trade off shoveling duties with the hubby on an every other day basis.

11.  Get a shovel with a bent handle.  Your back will thank you!
